Hillsborough Aquatic Club Swim Team

The Hillsborough Aquatic Club is a Swim Team program run by the Orange County Sportsplex that exploded onto the scene in 2011. Promoting healthy living, friendly competition, and teamwork, HAC Swim Team is an excellent activity for kids of all ages and abilities. Coaches stress hard work, but not at the expense of having fun! Groups range from beginners as young as 6 all the way up to High School aged swimmers. We encourage everyone who is new to the program to come to evaluations offered in early August and April/May each year. Or come on out to practice to see what it’s all about. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. Swim team is a great way for your child to stay healthy – body, mind, and soul!

KidsPlex offers After School Care for HAC Swim Team participants. If using Orange Public Transportation or Sportsplex transportation, your child must be registered with KidsPlex After School Care.

Brad Langford is entering his second season as the Hillsborough Aquatic Club Head Coach and Sportsplex Aquatics Director. Coach Brad started in this position in June 2023. He is returning to HAC as Head Coach after being an Assistant Coach for the 2018-2019 season where he made a big impression on our swimmers and formed relationships that exist to this day.  Coach Brad helped coach HAC swimmers to participate in NCS Select and IMX Camps during his 1 year with the team as an Assistant Coach.

Prior to coaching with Hillsborough Aquatic Club, Coach Brad spent 2015-2019 with North Carolina Aquatic Club in Chapel Hill where he helped swimmers reach age group and senior sections and win High School State Championships. After leaving HAC at the end of Summer 2019, Coach Brad was hired as the Head Coach of Centenary College of Louisiana where he remained from 2019 to 2022. Coach Brad coached swimmers to School/Conference Records and Conference Champions. While at Centenary, Coach Brad coached a swimmer to the Guatemala National Team. He then moved on to coach with Team Charlotte Swimming for the 2022-2023 season – his most recent position prior to joining HAC.

Coach Brad grew up swimming in Ohio for the Cincinnati Marlins and Mason Manta Rays. As a high school swimmer, he was an 8x school record holder and 3x All-American and went on to swim collegiately at the University of Cincinnati. Coach Brad is excited to continue the team’s growth and help the swimmer reach new heights.

Matt Graham is entering his first season as the Hillsborough Aquatic Club Head Age Group Coach. A native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Matt swam and competed for over 11 years there.  He attended college at the University of St. Andrews located in Scotland where he pursued a degree in Psychology.  Upon returning from the University of St. Andrews, Coach Matt became a coach for the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina Riptyde Swim Team (TYDE).  During his tenure at TYDE Swim Team, he became the Lead Site Coach for the Jerry Long Family YMCA managing a site of over 160 swimmers made up of beginner swimmers to Age Group Championship qualifiers.

Coach Matt believes in balancing hard work with fun to ensure that athletes build a proper foundation to be successful.  He believes that determination to do “the little things” right help to develop athletes to be the best they can be both in and out of the pool.  He is excited to bring his passion, knowledge, and excitement for the sport of swimming to Hillsborough Aquatic Club.  

Coach Matt was an All State swimmer, School Record Holder, and Conference Swimmer of the Year for Calvary Day School.  Coach Matt has trained multiple Age Group Championship and Age Group Sectionals athletes with several achieving Top 10 times and medaling.
